How markexcell.co.uk handles your personal information.

Last updated: 21 October 2026

In short

  • No analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies.
  • No mailing lists. I only use your details to reply to you and do the work you ask for.
  • I never sell your information or share it for anyone else's use.

Who I am

This website is run by Mark Excell, a sole trader whose business address is Wittas House, Two Rivers, Station Lane, Witney, Oxfordshire, OX28 4BH. I am responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact me at hello@markexcell.co.uk or by telephone on 07732 765398.

What information I collect

I only collect information that you provide to me directly. This happens in two circumstances.

When you use the contact form on this website, I collect your name, email address, phone number and the content of your message. If you are enquiring about the Search Health Check service, I also collect your business name and address for invoicing purposes.

When you contact me directly by email or telephone, I retain the information you share as part of that communication.

How I use your information

I use the information you provide solely to respond to your enquiry and, where a project or service is agreed, to fulfil that engagement. I do not use your information for marketing purposes and I do not add you to mailing lists.

I never sell your information or share it with anyone for their own use. The only other organisations that handle it are the service providers listed in the next section, who do so on my behalf, or where I am legally required to share it.

If you agree to a case study as part of the introductory offer, I only publish what you have reviewed and approved, and it can be anonymised if you prefer.

Where an invoice is raised, your name and business address are retained as part of my accounting records for a period of six years, as required by UK HMRC regulations.

Who else handles your information

Like any small business, I rely on a few service providers. They only handle your information to provide their service to me:

  • Website hosting. The company that hosts this website processes contact form messages as they are sent.
  • Email. Your messages and my replies are stored by my email provider.
  • Payments. If you pay by an online payment link, the payment provider processes your payment. I never see or store your card details.

If any of these providers stores information outside the UK, I only use providers that protect it with safeguards recognised under UK data protection law.

The legal basis for using your information

I process your personal information on the legal basis of legitimate interests: specifically, to respond to your enquiry and to fulfil any agreed service engagement. Where an invoice is involved, I process and retain your information on the basis of legal obligation under UK tax law. Where you agree to a case study, I rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time before it is published.

Cookies, fonts and tracking

This website does not use tracking cookies, analytics services or advertising tools. No data about your browsing behaviour is collected or stored by me.

Your browser may store small preference files as part of standard website operation. These are functional in nature, do not identify you personally and are not used to track you across other websites. You can clear these at any time through your browser settings.

How long I keep your information

Enquiry information is retained only for as long as is necessary to handle your enquiry and any resulting project. If no project results from your enquiry, your information is deleted within twelve months.

Invoice and accounting records are retained for six years from the date of the invoice, as required by UK law.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to request access to the personal information I hold about you, to request that it be corrected or deleted, and to object to or restrict my processing of it in certain circumstances. You also have the right to data portability where processing is based on consent or contract.

To exercise any of these rights, contact me at hello@markexcell.co.uk. I will respond within one calendar month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how I have handled your personal information, you can complain to me directly by email, phone or post using the details above. I will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it properly and let you know the outcome without undue delay.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). Details are available at ico.org.uk. I would welcome the opportunity to address any concern directly before you contact the ICO.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. If a change affects how I use information you have already given me, I will tell you directly.
